Spain’s digital nomad visa (visado para teletrabajadores) lets non-EU nationals live in Spain while working remotely — for an employer outside Spain, or as a freelancer whose clients are mostly outside Spain. We do it for you: eligibility, the document plan, apostilles and translations, and coordination of the filing.
What trips people up — and how we handle it
Bureaucracy. The consulate’s own checklist is never the full list; offices add their own requirements. We work from what actually gets approved, not just the published form.
Language and apostilles. Foreign documents need apostilles and sworn translations, in the right order, with live dates. We manage the sequence so nothing expires mid-process.
Fear of refusal. Two similar files can get different answers. We surface the weak points — income proof, contract wording, the social-security question — before you file, not after a refusal.
Requirements at a glance
- Non-EU citizenship — EU/EEA nationals register residence directly and don’t need this route.
- Remote work for an employer outside Spain, or freelance work with under ~20% of income from Spanish clients.
- Income of roughly €2,850/month for the main applicant, more per dependant. Up to ~15% of any shortfall can be shown as savings.
- A track record: your employer or company should have operated more than a year, with a work relationship of at least a few months.
Income requirement
The threshold is a multiple of Spain’s minimum wage, so it moves each year. For 2026 it lands near €2,850/month for a single applicant, rising for a partner and each child. Shortfalls can be partly met with savings (around 15%). We build a clean income file — contracts, invoices, and bank statements that reconcile — because this is where borderline cases are won or lost.
Remote work, defined
The route is built for telework: you keep earning from outside Spain. Employees show an employer letter permitting remote work from Spain; freelancers show a client base that is mostly non-Spanish. Some nationalities need care around social-security coverage — see below.
Documents
- Employment contract (3+ months) or freelance evidence, plus a remote-work permission letter
- Proof the employer / company has operated more than a year
- Apostilled degree or a CV showing 3+ years of relevant experience
- Criminal-record certificate, apostilled (see your nationality below)
- Private health insurance with full cover, no co-payments
- Bank statements evidencing the income
Applying from inside Spain Enter Spain legally and file from inside the country, and the decision grants a three-year residence card directly — instead of a one-year consular visa.
